Two Sided Table Placards

Using letter-size manila file folders with their tab areas removed for stability, make one placard for each of the quad (groups of four) MITs tables. Three separate placards are pictured above for explanation purposes only. Paste the mediator steps on one side and rules for role play on the other. A piece of tape inside the folder allows it to stand upright on the table. It will be flipped around a number of times as MITs reverse roles.

1. Begin as angry - words, posture, etc.
2. Listen to mediators
3. Improve your attitude
4. Cooperatively speak, express hurts, anger and state needs & wants,
5. Start to offer ideas.
6. Look for agreements

1. Agree to the mediation ground rules
2. Each tells his/her story w/o interruption
3. Establish the agenda
4. Discuss the problem fully BEFORE brainstorming for solutions
5. Disputants create a fair agreement
6. Closure ends it!
