M & Ms - Symbolic of Miracle Moments of Mediation
On page 14 M4, slightly below the middle of the page in the section titled TRAINING, we begin a core concept discussion of shared interests, or common ground. This area, when reached via process, in where the miracle of mediation most likely will begin. Hence, the symbolic distribution of M & M candies - without peanuts, for possible allergy considerations.
If your budget permits, separate packets would be preferable. But, school budgets being as they are, we use 3 oz. Dixie cups into which we pour some M & Ms from a large size bag. To preserve an element of surprise, we pre measure/sort servings into the cups according to our expected attendance, and put them in an ordinary envelope box (or the like). A loose cardboard piece cut to the box top size has the M& M bag graphic glued onto it and serves to keep the contents of the box (and cups) somewhat stable during transport. A plastic cover discourages ant interest.
When it's time to give out the candy, the loose card board piece is held up for all to see as a precursor to the distribution of the M &Ms We state the new meaning that should now come to mind when the ubiquitous M & M logo is seen - the Miracle of Mediation.
